GEORGE PAYNE (Gay Porn Actor)

Kiss Today Goodbye (1976)
Navy Blue (1979) with JACK WRANGLER

Centurians of Rome (1981) with SCORPIO

George Payne made his porn debut in the theatrical porn film "The Back Row," which was filmed in NYC in February 1972 and premiered one year later.  George co-starred with Casey Donovan, who evidently "discovered" George.

Jerry Douglas, who wrote, produced and directed the film, recalls this:

Casey himself showed up at auditions one day with a beefy body builder in tow. The kid was a fireman who had just flown in from Ohio, where he'd left his wife, on the pretext that he was going to do some bathing suit modeling in New York.  I hired him on the spot, kept his real first name (George) and changed his last name to Payne.

After the release of "The Back Row," George modeled for Colt photo sets, and he also modeled for Champion, and also did a number of porn loops including some which were marketed by Falcon.

George was in what was billed as the first 3-D gay porn film ever, entitled "Ramrod" (1973).  Reportedly the film was withdrawn from distribution, due to the lack of appropriate projection equipment.  George then attempted to develop a legit film career, without success.  So he made a return to porn in the last half of the seventies.

In an interview in 1977, George indicated that he had been a railroad fireman (distinctly different from the hook-and-ladder variety), and that he was divorced.  And probably straight.  And in that interview, which was done soon after the release of George's "comeback," "Kiss Today Goodbye" (1976), we find this:

He doesn't want to make any more gay films, but confesses he may 'if the right one comes along.'

'If I decide to do another sex film, I want it to be good,' he says.  'There are too many filmgoers being ripped off.  You've got to admit, there's a lot of junk in this market.'

Just a few years later, George would enter gay porn immortality by starring in Centurians Of Rome (1981).
