ERIC RYAN (Gay Porn Actor) Part 3

According to William Higgins (Manshots, Dec 90), he "found" Eric Ryan at "Drake's Theatre", doing the strip show there.  "I think I had a crush on him.  I never went to bed with him.  It was his first porno movie.  But he was easy to work with and, you know, I think he was on the hustling thing."

Higgins filmed Eric in Boys of Venice (1979), in which he had a sex scene with Derrick Stanton, which takes place in a tiny Venice bathroom, and in which both men are on roller skates.  Higgins said that the only reason that Eric Ryan did not become a porn superstar right after Boys of Venice was because Eric moved to NYC.

The move was the result of a job offer from the Follies Theatre.  Eric did return on occasion to do other porn films, such as the jail scene in Higgins' Leo and Lance (1983).

Eric did in fact participate in "the hustling thing," having a regular ad in The Advocate in the eighties.

Eric was in dozens of porn films, and modeled for numerous studios across the porn spectrum:  from Target, to Old Reliable.  He died in the nineties, but his most memorable performances are his debut in Boys of Venice, and his leading role in Centurians of Rome (1981)

Eric described his involvement with Centurians of Rome (1981):

Centurians of Rome.  God, that was hilarious!  Such a lavish production!  You have no idea.  Limousines, penthouses, thousands and thousands of dollars floating around -- hundred dollar bills being passed out.  It was just so much fun!  I guess we need more Brink's robbers in this business.  * * * I am supposed to get three percent, if it ever gets out of bondage or escrow or whatever the money's being kept in.  When I've tried to "act," like in Centurians of Rome, I've looked kind of silly.  No offense to the people who liked me in it.  That film was difficult -- who can function after lying around stoned for twelve to eighteen hours?
