From HONCHO magazine (July 1981) Photos by Zeus taken at the abandoned Griffith Park Zoo in Los Angeles.
Val Martin (beard) and Leo Stone
Val Martin. A fixture in the seventies gay porn world, and in the S&M subsection, Val was a god. And he still is, IMHO, having ascended to Pornassus in the service of the muse Eroto.
Val was not classically handsome: he'd never have been a mainstream model. His complexion was far from perfect. In every photo of him I've seen, Val had a beard. I'd probably not recognize any photos of him without a beard.
In In Touch No. 60 (1981), it was reported that Val was born in Brazil, and was the only son in a family with 18 sisters. Val was married at age 14, and had two sons. According to this article, Val subsequently was a horse trainer, a medical student, a NYC policeman, a stockbroker, a dancer, a banker, and eventually, a part owner in L.A.'s disco Probe.
Val appeared in Fred Halsted's Sextool (1975). The object of the exercise was the domination of a sailor. (To put it very mildly.) Val fisted the sailor.
He had a scene with Casey Donovan in Wakefield Poole's film Moving (1974). According to legend, Val fisted Casey (kind of an icebreaker in early seventies gay porn). And based solely upon what Casey and Val did elsewhere, I've no reason to doubt this.
And then Val fell in with the Zeus Studios guys.
Val and Leo Stone's pairing for Zeus. Leo was aka Bob Bouchard. There was a special Zeus mag featuring just their photo session. And photos from this session were printed in Honcho, July 1981.
At about the same time, he did a set for Drummer entitled "Val Breaks In a House Slave." In which he did just that.
And Val evidently was not above being photographed with a woman.
And then Val and Ron Jeremy and some females were featured in Hustler, September 1980.
Charon's Ferry, a generally reliable source of information, reports that Val was born on July 19, 1939, and died on April 13, 1985. NOTE: Bio is from the Gay Erotic Video Index website.
